Six San Juan County students representing Orcas Power and Light Cooperative (OPALCO) attended the 2026 Idaho Consumer-Owned Utilities Association Youth Rally in early July, where they earned scholarships totaling over $3,000 to support their continuing education. Every first-year student from OPALCO received additional recognition—Maren Ellingson received $600, Atziry Orozco and Chloe Roach each received $500, and Matthew Vasquez and Theo Johnston each received $400. Gabe Chapman was selected to return as a student director to help lead next year’s program.
